Edinburgh Monopoly ChallengeFriday 11th May 2018
This year 4th & 4th A Edinburgh Brownie Unit turns 100 years old! To celebrate the girls have chosen to go to Disneyland Paris (among lots of other fun activities!). One of the fundraising events we've run to support our centenary celebrations was a giant game of Monopoly that took place in and around Edinburgh.
The event was open to Guides, Senior Section and Leaders. Teams had to race to be first to each place on the Monopoly board to avoid 'paying rent', snap a picture and tweet it back to us at Monopoly HQ (@edinburghmonop). Bonus points were given to teams who found Monopoly-based items such as a top hat or an iron. Teams were also able to win Chance points by locating statues around town from clues.
It was (surprisingly) a very sunny Scottish day - the perfect kind of day for running around the city! We were especially impressed by the teams who made it to the airport, and by the team who decided that they couldn't make it all the way out to Penicuik so they found a cook and got him to pose with a penny!
It was a really fun day and a great experience all-around. I'd never organised anything like this before and I'm so glad that I challenged myself and it was a success. Thanks to the 40 people who took part and really got into the spirit of the game. I'd also like to give a special shout-out to Hotel Chocolat for giving everyone who took part a free ice cream!
You can view more photos from the day over on Girlguiding Edinburgh's Facebook page.
We've got other events coming up this year including beer tasting (for leaders!) a ceilidh and a challenge badge - Powerful Princesses, Powerful You - all about awesome princesses from history so watch this space...
