Stanemuir Brownie House
Stanemuir Brownie House is surrounded by heath land within a boundary fence and has plenty of space for outdoor activities. The house is fully equipped for 24 people. View the Stanemuir Brochure 2019.
Location: ¾ mile east of Carnwath on the A70 (25 miles south-west of Edinburgh)
- Ramps at three entrances, allowing for wheelchair access
- Three rooms with two tiered bunks to sleep six
- One room with tiered bunk
- Two twin rooms with single beds
- Junior washroom: four basins, two showers, three toilets
- Senior washroom: shower (wheelchair accessible), hand basin, toilet
- Large living/dining room with open fire
- Cloakroom/drying room
One downie and one pillow per bed, 24 in total. Sleeping bag or sheets and pillowcase must be brought. Spare blankets are available.
Cooking and heating, including immersion heaters for the water, is by electricity operated by £1 and £2 coin meters. The cost of electricity for a weekend is approximately £40-£50 (more in winter). The fridge/freezer and lighting are not metered and there is no additional charge for this electricity.
There is an open fire in the living room; coal and logs are provided.
Kitchen utensils, crockery, cutlery, fridge/freezer, four-ring industrial cooker, one domestic cooker, and small microwave. The following are not provided: first aid equipment, cleaning agents, rubbish bags, towels, tea towels.
Outdoor activities within the grounds
In the grounds there is an adventure playground, BBQ available on paved area, campfire area, and also the "Stanemuir Seedpod" (a seated area amongst the trees to use as a performance space for creative play and retreat from inclement weather).
