Brownies

Brownies is for young people aged seven to 10 year old.

Brownies is about helping to put a smile on young faces and creating confident young people. It’s also a great way to make new friends.

There are more than 2,000 Brownies in Edinburgh, and they all follow a programme of exciting opportunities, challenges, and most of all—fun.

Through this action-packed programme, girls can build confidence by developing new skills, learning about the wider community, finding out about different cultures, and getting involved with global issues like the environment and endangered species.

Edinburgh Brownies attend meetings packed with all sorts of games, crafts, outings, and challenges. We are fond of campfires, too, and love nothing more than getting together with Rainbows and Guides from all over the city for a great big sing-song!

Members can earn Brownie interest badges which cover a huge range of hobbies, from circus skills to exploring wildlife, and everything in between, and are encouraged to work towards them at home, too.

If your child would like to join Brownies, please visit the national Girlguiding website and register your interest.

If your child is already a member of Brownies and would like to register for a Guide unit, please talk to their unit leader.

Girls take what they do in guiding with them as they grow up. Everything from working in a team, to taking the lead, to speaking out on issues they care about. It helps them develop the skills and confidence to become the young women they want to be. ’
