Fairmilehead Senior Section celebrate 1st Birthday!
In the summer of 2014 I met Rosy. Like-minded, passionate about Girlguiding, and full of enthusiasm for Senior Section. After a good chat (and demand from the district!), there was no doubt in our minds that we were going to open a Senior Section unit in the Fairmilehead district and in January 2015, we did! It’s been a year of many ups and downs, but we now have 10 girls who attend on a weekly basis and we absolutely love it! We’ve had guets speakers from charities, tried our hand at decoupage, Krav Maga and even took trips to Ryze Trampolining Centre and Doodles Ceramics.
I love being a Senior Section leader because I get to take part in a lot of the activities that the girls organise for the whole unit. Just because I’m a leader doesn’t mean that I don’t want to paint a tea cup or bounce around on trampolines too! It’s great to see the girls take responsibility for organising nights, and looking so proud of themselves when it’s a success.
The past year has been brilliant fun and I really urge anyone keen to join a Senior Section unit to go for it, or if you’re thinking of starting up a Senior Section unit then get in touch! We’d be happy to share our advice!
