Introducing Lead Marketing & Communications Volunteer Fiona Love

Date: 6th Mar 2021 Author: Scout Websites

Guide leader Fiona Love takes on the role of co-lead volunteer for the communications and marketing team, alongside Steph Mlot.

Hello,

Steph and I thought we would write a couple of short blogs to introduce ourselves as the new Edinburgh Marketing and Communications lead volunteers. This lets you find out a little about who we are, but also gives us a chance to practice putting blogs on the website! We have a few ideas of what we can do with the MarCom accounts, but we want to hear your thoughts. Please get in touch and let us know if there is something missing or anything you think could be done better.

By day I work for a small rewilding charity in the Borders, coordinating the social media and communications. However, this volunteer role is my first chance to work in communications as part of a team, so I am really excited to have people to bounce ideas off!

I am a leader-in-training with the 93rd A Guides. My second meeting with the unit, I found myself trying to hollow out limes with a teaspoon and fill them with jelly. Three years on, I think my shirt has just about recovered, but I will be volunteering someone else to run that activity next time.

Girls take what they do in guiding with them as they grow up. Everything from working in a team, to taking the lead, to speaking out on issues they care about. It helps them develop the skills and confidence to become the young women they want to be. ’
