Pentland Rangers Go Hunting For Vikings!

Date: 21st Dec 2015 Author: Scout Websites

On Saturday 12 December Pentland Rangers kicked off their Senior Section Spectacular celebrations with a day trip to York. Not deterred by the pouring rain, our cancelled train or the hoards of Christmas shoppers, we arrived in York full of enthusiasm and immediately set off in two groups on a photo scavenger hunt of York. Our challenge saw us hunting for Vikings at the Yorvik Viking Museum, locked in a jail cell at the York Castle and looking for Harry Potter books at York Library. After we all dried out with a restoring hot chocolate there was some time for Christmas shopping. We then headed to York Minster where nine girls made their Promise as Senior Section members.

There was just time for dinner at Pizza Express before we headed for the train home – but the fun didn’t stop there as we secretly wrapped and then exchanged Secret Santa gifts we had purchased in York.

Girls take what they do in guiding with them as they grow up. Everything from working in a team, to taking the lead, to speaking out on issues they care about. It helps them develop the skills and confidence to become the young women they want to be. ’
